Recently Neuranext had the privilege to exhibit Unitree Robotics at SXSW Sydney with the NSSN, New South Wales Smart Sensing Network, on the stand of the Office of NSW Chief Scientist and Engineer.
Throughout a great day of talks on topics like Quantum Computing and AI, we interacted with attendees with the Unitree G1 Humanoid and Unitree Go2 Pro Robot Dog. It was a great day at Darling Harbour, arriving there at 7:30AM to set up and leaving at 4:00PM to head home and get ready to drive 9 hours to deliver a brand new Unitree Go2 Pro to a customer near Tweed Heads on the NSW / QLD border.
It was just the way the delivery and timing fell that we decided that with two drivers it would be achievable and safe to make such an overnight run and meet up with the team at Lindisfarne Anglican Grammar at Terranora to run a training session for a large group of staff and students on their brand new robot dog.
Getting back to the office from SXSW we picked up the brand new Unitree Go2 Pro having previously opened and fully charged both batteries and updated the firmware on the robot and double checked that everything was there, as it always with Unitree!
We decided to take our demo Go2 Pro robot with us as well as I always like to demonstrate just how stable and tough the robot is by giving it some good shoves and step operations, and I don’t want to scratch a customers brand new robot in the process of delivering it, so our one can be the demo of those functions.
Leaving around 9:00PM we set off North first stopping at Beresfield at the end of the Freeway near Hexham for a fuel top up and quick break. From there we headed to Nambucca Heads Service Centre for a driver change and fuel up at around 3:00AM.
It was the first time we had done the drive late at night and finding that we had to prepay for fuel at each stop was a new thing and we wildly overestimated how much we needed at Nambucca and had to go back in to get a refund!
From there, with such a great road these days, it was a breeze to arrive at Chinderah just after 6:30AM to fuel up, grab some breakfast and hang around a bit until our appointment at 8:30AM at Lindisfarne Anglican Grammar in Terranora.
Neuranext’s customer for this robot was JB Hi-Fi Education who were working with Lindisfarne Anglican to bring Robots to life at the school and it was an absolute please to be able to personally meet both the JB Hi-Fi team and all the staff at Lindisfarne Anglican.
Kicking off in the chapel with at least 20 teachers and many Year 10 students we went through all the features and functions of their new Unitree Go2 Pro robot. Neuranext’s longstanding experience of operating the Unitree robots in education settings translates into detailed advice for customers about the daily operation, risk assessment and management of the robot, batteries and remote controller package.
I discussed my experience in school operations and the safety considerations that are prudent to ensure a positive ownership experience for schools.
After this 2 hour training session and experiencing the fantastic hospitality of the team at Lindisfarne, it was off to Byron Bay for a few hours of rest and a long sleep before setting off back to Sydney the following day.
SXSW leading into a 900km drive and then a 2 hour training session certainly was a big day out, but it was such a privilege to be able to participate in both of those events.
