Earlier this year Neuranext showcased the Unitree Go2 Pro Quadruped robots at Melbourne Universities Science Gallery for executives from Victoria’s new Tech Schools. We took our full track set up and borrowed a second example of the Go2 from Hilltop Road Public School as it is fully branded up by Hilltop Road and looks great. Showcasing the abilities of the Unitree Go2 Pro across regular remote control, app, voice and scratch coding control we discussed the educational applications of each method.
Examples of Neuranext’s work with schools where students learn how to operate the robot across all these modalities for tasks like teleoperation of the robot as it traverses an obstacle course, where the student can’t see the course or the robot, but relies on the visual and LIDAR data to accurately move through the obstacle course. This concept can be compared to how they might operate a rover on the moon from a control center.
Staff from the tech schools asked detailed questions about the logistics of operating the robots, how they might manage their deployment in classrooms, and the safety considerations of operating in educational settings. As Neuranext is vastly experienced in Unitree operations in educational settings, from Primary through High School and TAFE, we are able to give detailed and specific advice on how we manage safety and the day to day operation and troubleshooting of the robots.
Recently both Dandenong Tech School and Warnambool’s South West Tech School have purchased the Unitree Go2 Pro robot from Neuranext and Dandenong have named thier robot Laika, a great name with a nod to the first Dog in space, a pioneer as the new Laika is in schools. Laika was recently present at a construction commencement ceremony for Dandenong Tech School and Neuranext looks forward to seeing Laika at the opening ceremony for that very building in the future.
