Sydney, AUSTRALIA (15 November 2019) Sydney-based technology company Neuranext will showcase its development work with artificial intelligence (AI) driven self-driving vehicle technology, as well as debut a new addition, at StartCon 2019, Australia’s largest annual conference for start-ups and technology entrepreneurship.
This year’s StartCon event focuses on the future of work, with an emphasis on the roles artificial intelligence, automation and robotics will play in how companies, organisations and workplaces adapt to ever-increasing changes from digital disruption. Neuranext is using the event as an opportunity to illustrate the AI technology it uses in its autonomously controlled robotic vehicles, the same vehicles it uses in its pioneering AI in Schools education program. It will also debut the addition of headset controls for a first-person point of view with their self-driving scale-model cars.

Along with its development work into AI-based active security, Neuranext has developed a pioneering education program that uses AI as a hook to promote students’ interest in STEM subjects before they make their transition to high school.
The program was developed by two of Neuranext’s co-founders, Dr Andrew Kyngdon and Adrian Tyson, and sees students learn about AI’s history and scientific underpinnings, its current developmental abilities and its practical limits. Students also learn about the technology’s realistic future applications and the positive changes it could bring to societies.
The incursion-based program includes AI-based activities such as detecting and classifying objects using computer vision as well as operating scale-model cars specifically programmed with autonomous driving technology; the same units will be running at the Neuranext stand at StartCon 2019. The program is available to schools during class times as well as school holidays.
